League Info
About 60 Junior teams (age 17 and under) and 75 Senior teams (age 19 and under) play across NC. The state is segmented into 4 Areas. Matthews participates in Area 4, which ranges from Charlotte towards the west Shelby/Asheville.

Player Ages

Players born Jan 1, 2007 or later are eligible for Junior Legion in 2024.

Players born Jan 1, 2005 or later are eligible for Senior Legion in 2024.

The plan is for Junior players to advance into Senior Legion play.

Regular Season
Typically, regular season runs from May 15 - July 1; approximately 25+ games; any day of the week; games vs. local clubs will also be scheduled.

Post Season
Starts July 1; qualifying teams within an Area play best of 3 or best of 5 series and advance through elimination until an Area champ is determined; top 2 teams in Area participate in NC State Championships (mid to late July).

Roster Size
Projected to be 15-17 players- each having primary position specific responsibilities (P, C, 1B, 3B, OF and SS/2B)

Cost
Approximately $500 per player.

Locations
Home field is Butler HS; some road games will stretch beyond Mecklenburg County.

Player Commitment
This is a commitment for May through most of July. While family structure and downtime is important, the expectation is that time away during season will be minimal and communicated in advance.

Practice Info

Given the concentrated game schedule, practice time will be limited.

However, our practice time will seek to explore atypical areas such as video review, strategic concepts, and comprehensive understanding of the rules of baseball, etc.

Our coaching will not be aimed at re-instructing what players are learning with their school teams and coaches. They will be expected to display leadership and put their learning to work on the field.
